Mia Battaglia is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) practicing massage therapy and Core Synchronism since 2004, and Thai Massage since 2009.

Mia nurtures her clients with an intuitive approach to touch and healing, grounded in theory provided by her extensive training in both Core Synchronism and Thai Massage therapies. She received her core practitioner training with Core Synchronism founder Robert Stevens, and travels to Thailand frequently to continue refining her knowledge of Thai Massage therapy.

In Thailand, Mia has studied with Pichet Boonthumme and Felicity Joy, focusing particularly on Sen-Line Theory and Thai Abdominal Massage. She skillfully employs these practices to release bound fascia, decrease inflammation, and promote healthy circulation in the body.

Mia has experience working with a wide range of clientele, including those recovering from acute injuries, suffering from chronic pain, children, the elderly, and patients living with disability, such as cerebral palsy or Down Syndrome. She is sensitive to both the physical and energetic dimensions of pain, and works hard to listen to her clients-their words and their bodies. With this approach, Mia provides clients with both caring treatments and practical tools to take charge of their own well-being.

Mia understands that her therapies are just one piece in the broader picture of your health, and looks forward to working with you to discover, cultivate, and sustain your optimal wellness.

Services

BEFORE EVERY SESSION, WE WILL BRIEFLY DISCUSS YOUR STATE-OF-BEING, ANY AILMENTS YOU ARE EXPERIENCING, AND THE OUTCOME YOU ARE HOPING TO ACHIEVE.

THROUGH THIS INTUITIVE DISCOVERY SESSION, TOGETHER WE ESTABLISH WHAT MODALITY OR COMBINATION OF TECHNIQUES ALIGN WITH YOUR NEEDS TO CREATE A CUSTOMIZED MASSAGE FOR YOU.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an Ancient Healing System combining acupressure and assisted stretching.

This type of massage focuses on energy channels known as SEN lines. Pressure points are applied with the stretches to move stagnant energy and help achieve balance in the body. This is highly relaxing while you receive the massage, yet leaves you feeling energized and refreshed when the session is complete.

Abdominal Massage

Abdominal Massage is a full one-hour treatment working on the many layers in our abdomen.

It is ideal for releasing toxins and soothes internal organs for efficient functions - pancreas, kidney, small intestine, large intestine, gall bladder, liver. Works on tight muscles such as the diaphragm, obliques, psoas and abs. It can relieve constipation, irritable bowel symptoms, asthma/tightness of breath, and encourage overall health and wellbeing.

Core Synchronism

Core Synchronism was founded by Robert Stevens when he combined the theories of polarity and cranial osteopathy.

Core Synchronism is a system which follows the cerebral rhythms of the body in order to help create space for our bodies to find their natural alignment. This gentle approach is one of listening, and following your bodies natural rhythms.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy is a scientific system for balancing the life energy in our bodies. We are complicated beings made up of many different layers and adding polarity to massage helps us reach beyond the physical body into the emotional body.  We have positive and negative poles through which life energy flows like a current. Emotions get stuck in these currents and can start to affect our tissues and cause physical pain in our bodies.

Reflex Polarity

Reflect Polarity is polarity theory blended with reflexology for more effective energy movement. A gentle, yet deep type of work done in the feet, focusing on points that reflect to other parts of the body.

Testimonials

Mia’s work invites me into the timeless time - How else can I explain how she makes 30 minutes of bodywork on a hectic day feel like an hour of bliss on vacation? Mia’s work is always different, and it’s always exactly what I need.

When I’m not running around like a headless chicken, my favorite way to take care of myself and calm my hypersensitive system is with Mia’s CBD-oil full body massage. I have chronic pain and anxiety and nothing soothes my body and mind quite like it. I didn’t even know such a thing was possible and I’m so grateful it’s exactly as awesome as it sounds. And she makes it all look so easy and effortless. The best.

This one is special!! Mia’s work is very satisfying! She always gets to the spots that need to let go, and release. I’m a happy client! I had a 90 minute with Mia, and felt amazing afterwards. Her multidisciplinary background, many talents, and exceptional listening skills put her in a league of her own. Thank you so much for the massage!

Mia Battaglia is a superb massage therapist! I go to her regularly for 90-minute massages in her exquisite studio and feel amazingly better afterwards. She always takes the time to talk with me beforehand about what my body needs, and has helped me enormously in recovering from chronic back and leg pain. Mia has a broad range of skills in massage therapy and also extraordinary listening and intuitive gifts.

I am pleased to recommend licensed massage therapist Mia Battaglia for all of your massage needs. Mia listens to her clients and tailors the massage session to the client’s expectations. In this way I was one of her more challenging clients, but she politely acknowledged my preferences and then attentively set out to achieve them. I was always pleased with the sessions. Additionally, Mia went beyond the expected, striving to accommodate my erratic schedule. She was the best massage therapist in the city and I will miss her relaxing sessions. The residents of Boulder are lucky to have her.

I had a 90 minute Thai with Mia and it was delightful. Mia is highly skilled and very pleasant. The facility is small and nice.

In 2008, I was hit by a car on my way to a dance class. I could barely move, much less dance, and was in severe chronic pain. Luckily I got a life-saving recommendation. Known among massage therapists as the best in Albuquerque, Mia’s concern for both physical and emotional wellbeing helped me quickly regain much of my mobility, even from my first treatment, and I improved with each appointment. Nowadays (in 2011) I am practicing yoga again, and dancing, running, jumping and playing per usual.

...an hour of Swedish, acupressure and therapeutic techniques. Luckily, the therapist for all my body treatments was Mia Battaglia, who is also a Thai massage pro. She incorporated some Thai moves into my massage, which proved to be my favorite facet of the whole day. Yes, it’s that fabulous. Thai massage combines rhythmic pressing and yoga-like stretching to produce major tension release and muscle lengthening. It feels incredible and it works.
